Elizabethton opened up conference play on Thursday night, traveling to Sullivan East to take on the Lady Patriots. It was a contest in which the Lady Cyclones held control for all four quarters, cruising their way to a 75-54 victory.
The Lady Cyclones opened the game showcasing their ability to score, but Sullivan East kept stride as Elizabethton held a slim 16-15 advantage going into the second period.
This was where Elizabethton began to separate themselves, knocking down several three's and finishing tough baskets, outscoring the Lady Patriots 23-14 and taking a 39-29 lead into the break.
The third and fourth quarters saw the Lady Cyclones pick up where they left off, demonstrating explosive offense while applying the pressure on defense en route to a 75-54 final.
Reagan May led the Lady Cyclones in the scoring department with 20 points, including 3 long range baskets.
Rylee May contributed with 14 points of her own, while
Peyton McGee added 12 points and
Adrian Heading scored 9.
The Lady Cyclones will continue conference play on Tuesday, January 14th when they hit the road to take on David Crockett. JV. tips off at 4, and Varsity action begins at 6:30 pm.
The next home contest for the Lady Cyclones takes place on January 23rd, when the Unicoi County Blue Devils come to town. This contest will also be a 50th anniversary celebration, honoring the rich tradition that is Lady Cyclones basketball.
