Lady Cyclones win Hilton Sandestin Invitational Championship

After traveling to Destin, Florida the day after Christmas, the Lady Cyclones are headed back to Elizabethton with a trophy after winning the Hilton Sandestin Invitational Tournament.

In their first contest of the trip, the Lady Cyclones came away with an impressive 69-31 victory against the Eagles of Leslie County, Kentucky. In the win, Peyton McGee led the team in scoring with 18, while Adrian Heading finished with 12 and Kayelyn Nave added 11 of her own.

On night two, the Lady Cyclones squared off against the Seahawks of South Walton, Florida. This game did not have as explosive of a start for Elizabethton as the night before, but as the second half rolled around, the Lady Cyclones turned up the heat, coming out on top by a score of 63-45.

Reagan May led the Lady Cyclones in this contest with 19 points, 8 of which came in the third period. Rylee May contributed 15 points to the scoring effort, with 8 coming in the final quarter of play.

Finally, it was time for the championship game against the Bulldogs of Freeport, Florida. The Lady Cyclones came out of the gate running, outscoring the Bulldogs 22-14 in the first quarter and increasing that advantage to 37-25 at the break. Elizabethton never looked back, going on to win in dominating fashion, 77-46.

Peyton McGee led the team with 18 points, including four long range baskets, while Rylee May added 15. Jamira Smalls contributed with 12 points of her own, Kayelyn Nave scored 9, and Sydney Minton finished with 7 points in the contest.

The Lady Cyclones are back in action against Sullivan East on January 10th, and will be back at home on January 11th against Dobyns Bennett.
