It was the beginning of conference play for the Cyclones boys basketball team on Thursday night, and after a thrilling win from the Lady Cyclones the game before, Elizabethton was looking to go for the full sweep in the final contest of the evening at Sullivan East High School.
And thanks to the Cyclones explosive offense, a full sweep was what they got, defeating the Patriots by a final of 82-53.Â
It was a perfect start for Elizabethton out of the gate, collecting buckets on the offensive end, while holding the Patriots scoreless for the first several minutes of the contest on the defensive end. Through one, Elizabethton had already built a double digit lead of 21-10.
The second period was much more contested, with Sullivan East keeping up with the Cyclones on the offensive end. However, thanks to the lead Elizabethton had already built, The Cyclones took a 36-22 advantage into the half.
The third quarter saw the Cyclones offense continue to showcase their scoring power, scoring 30 points in the frame, before putting a bow on the contest in the fourth and taking home an 82-53 victory.
Leading the way for the Cyclones was
Andrew Barnett, who scored 24 in the contest, 18 of those coming from beyond the arc. Alongside Barnett,
Hudson Pate and
Hudson Smith also finished the game with double figures, scoring 17 and 11, respectively.
The Cyclones will be on the road again in their next matchup taking on the Pioneers of David Crockett next Tuesday. JV begins at 5, while Varsity tips off at 8.Â
Elizabethton will be back at home on January 23rd, welcoming the Uncoi County Blue Devils to John Treadway Gymnasium.
