Lady Cyclones conclude season in State Tournament Quarterfinal

After a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Gibbs in the Class AA Sectional round on Saturday, the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones punched their ticket to the TSSAA State Tournament for just the second time in program history.

In Tuesday night's quarterfinal matchup, the Lady Cyclones came up short against a strong Tullahoma squad, falling 4-1. The Lady Wildcats struck first in the 19th minute and added another in the 28th to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Tullahoma extended the advantage early in the second half before Elizabethton's Camdyn Garland converted a penalty kick in the 49th minute to put the Lady Cyclones on the board. Tullahoma would tack on one more before the final whistle to make it 4-1.

Garland and Maddix Morton each recorded shots on goal, while Abbie Krawczyk anchored the defense with 10 saves in the match.

While the tournament run came to an end, this season was nothing short of remarkable for the Lady Cyclones. The team captured a regular season conference championship, were crowned district tournament champions for the fourth time in program history, the first time in 11 years, and saw Izzy Lewis named District MVP.

To add on, the Lady Cyclones also claimed their third ever Region title and first since 2011, followed by their second-ever Sectional Championship and first since 2012.

Earning a berth to the TSSAA State Tournament for the second time in program history, the Lady Cyclones capped off a historic year that will be remembered as one of the program's best.
