The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones secured the District 1-AA Championship in dominant fashion last night, defeating Sullivan East 4–0 behind a fast start and a standout performance from #4.
Elizabethton wasted no time setting the tone, striking just six minutes into the match. A cross from Isla Grindstaff was briefly controlled by Sullivan East, but Arvella Nave quickly stole the ball inside the box and fired it into the back of the net to give the Lady Cyclones an early 1–0 lead.
The pressure continued in the 14th minute when Izzy Lewis raced past defenders and finished a breakaway chance to double the advantage.
Just before halftime, Elizabethton extended its lead once more. Off a perfectly placed corner kick from Lewis, Nave found the ball in front of the net and buried her second goal of the night in the 36th minute.
Four minutes into the second half, Nave completed her hat trick with another strong finish, sealing the 4–0 victory and the district championship for the Lady Cyclones.
The win also came on Senior Night, as Elizabethton honored its five seniors — Lewis, Camdyn Garland, Gracie Estep, Maddie Stanberry, and Abbie Krawczyk — for their leadership and impact on the program. The seniors played a key role in the championship effort, with Lewis contributing a goal and an assist, and Krawczyk anchoring a defensive unit that held Sullivan East scoreless throughout the match.
Following the match, first and second all-conference teams were announced, and several Lady Cyclones were honored for their tremendous play during the season. Estep, Grindstaff, Heather Meier, Maddix Morton, and Aubrey Szabo were awarded second team all-conference, while Garland, Krawczyk, Lewis, Nave, and Stanberry were given first team all-conference honors.
Lewis was awarded with the Conference MVP, contributing with either a goal or assist in every conference match during the season.
With the victory, the Lady Cyclones advance to the Region 1-AA Tournament, where they will host Volunteer on Tuesday in the Semifinal Match.
