In a place that has become all too familiar for Cyclone Football fans, Elizabethton saw their season come to an end Friday night in the second round of the TSSAA playoffs against the Anderson County Mavericks. In a game where the Cyclones started out with momentum, the tide would quickly turn, with Elizabethton falling by a score of 54-14.
On the first play of the opening drive,
Jack Blevins got things rolling by taking a screen pass nearly 60 yards into the Anderson County red zone. That would set the Cyclones up for the first touchdown of the contest, with
CJ Mathes barreling across the goal line to give Elizabethton an early 7-0 advantage.
However, the Mavericks would answer in a big way, scoring time and time again, taking a 34-7 lead into the halftime break. Anderson County would continue to apply pressure in the second half, finishing the game with a 54-14 final score.
