Constructed inside the current Elizabethton High School building in 1974, John Treadway Gymnasium is a storied part of EHS athletics.The gymnasium is named after the great "A.L" John Treadway, a legendary Men's basketball coach at Elizabethton High School who amassed a record of 440-220 at the school from 1950 to 1973. Throughout his entire career, Treadway's record was an astonishing 843-331, placing him in the top 25 coaches nationwide in terms of wins. Treadway can be found in the Elizabethton High School Athletic Hall of Fame, the Upper East Tennessee Hall of Fame, and the TSSAA Hall of Fame.

John Treadway Gymnasium features a parquet hardwood floor, spectator seating on both sidelines as well as upstairs on the baseline, above the gym entrance. Most recently, the Cyclone Vision™ video board was introduced in the gymnasium, providing an interactive fan experience. Because of its rich history, John Treadway Gymnasium has seen a number of exciting wins and unforgettable moments.
